Broadway’s Spider-Man will lose Original Cast
New York — Two original casts of Broadway’s Spider-Man will bid goodbye as their contract will expire next month as announced Friday by its producers. T.V. Carpio and Jennifer Damiano has been part of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark since November of last year. Jennifer Damiano plays the role of Mary Jane Watson, the love interest of Peter Parker or Spider-Man. She will be replaced by Rebecca Faulkenberry who made her first Broadway appearance in Rock of Ages.
On the other hand, T.V. Carpio, who plays the role of Arachne, spider-woman, will be replaced by Baby, It’s You and American Idiot star, Christina Sajous. Reeve Carney, who plays lead role Peter Parker, and Patrick Page, who plays Green Goblin, have both decided to continue with the $75 million Broadway show that has become a top earner despite the many challenges in its initial start in Broadway.
The musical has been considered as the most expensive show thus far in Broadway but also the most controversial due to many unexpected accidents and premiere show delays before it has finally opened in June. Another controversy during its opening was the ousting of Julie Taymor, co-book writer and original director, from the show and the reworking of its storyline including its musical songs.
