Busiest Travel Holidays In Years
These Holidays could be the busiest the U.S. has seen in the past couple of years with the AAA predicting that more than 93 million Americans will be on the road. This is a significant increase since last year and close to the high numbers seen in 2006.
One of the reasons so many people choose to drive to their destinations is that affordable plane tickets have become increasingly difficult to find. The AAA predicts that a whopping 84.4 million people will drive a minimum of 50 miles between the 22nd of December and the 1st of January 2013.
Seeing as basically 1 in 4 Americans will be driving to their destination these Holidays, people should expect a lot of traffic jams and crowded highways.
The price of gas should stay close to the price it was in 2011 ranging from 3.20 to 3.40 dollars.
While the roads seem to get busier, there will be close to 1 million less people travelling by plane these Holidays as recent travel forecasts show.
With about 15 million people expected to travel between the 17th of December and the 6th of January it seems that Christmas day is seen as the busiest day of the year; the planes have the biggest occupation rate, 86%, a 1% improvement since last year's Holidays.
