Caribbean Remains Top International Wedding Destination for Americans

According to a recent wedding survey, about 1 in 4 happened to be destination weddings, with 30% of these taking place outside of the continental US. With all these numbers available, the Caribbean region tops the list as the choice wedding location destination for couples from the United States.

While destination weddings have been increasing in popularity over recent years, the Caribbean holding on to the top spot as the wedding destination to be certainly says a lot for the enchantment that people have of the islands in the region.

Special, fun, and exotic

These words offer huge draws for brides and grooms-to-be during the planning stage of their wedding, and are the main reasons for holding their special union ceremony outside of their home town or country.

From secluded spots that give off the vibe of being cut off from the rest of the world, to long stretches of white beach and turquoise waters filled with vacationers out for a party, and with many different activities suited for a variety of preferences and budget, the many islands of the Caribbean region has a lot of options to choose from which certainly add to the appeal that these islands have for the affianced.

An intimate affair

Another reason why brides and grooms-to-be are leaning towards destination weddings is the desire to have a small and intimate affair with fewer guests. As with destination weddings, the cost of the accommodation and airfare are shouldered by the guest, with the wedded couple shouldering the costs of the food and a number of activities prior to or after the wedding.

Couples Resorts and other all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean have wedding packages to lessen the cost, but this doesn't justify overdoing the guest list as prices and expenses can total to an exorbitant amount beyond budget if more care is not observed.

With over a thousand islands in the Caribbean, finding that perfect island that can cater to the needs of an intimate wedding is made easier with the increasing awareness.

Geographical boundaries

Getting all the family members and special friends together to celebrate your wedding can be tough, especially if everyone is spread all over the world. But with a lot of people no longer living where they were born and grew up in, the idea of a destination wedding is considered more and more reasonable, especially if family and friends are far away from where the bride and groom are currently located in anyway. With the Caribbean islands being connected via air and sea to some of the major cities of the world, getting there is no longer a hindrance to having that dream destination wedding.

Having Mexico and Hawaii coming in just under the list of the top wedding destinations the last years, the draw would appear to be places that boast of perpetual sunshine and various tropical landscape that befits a romantic wedding.

With all the appeal of the Caribbean islands to the rest of the world, it leaves little to wonder why US weddings are being held on any one of the magical islands of the West Indies.
