Celebrities Criticized for Supporting Infamous Russian leader
Moscow - An international human rights group based in New York criticized Hollywood celebrities that included an Oscar awarding winning actress for attending Wednesday a concert and gathering held for the birthday of a leader that has been accused of abusing his rights and spending the public's money to satisfy his eccentric wants and hobbies. Present in the occasion were Hilary Swank, American actress, Jean Claude Van Damme, Belgian Actor, and Vanessa Mae, British violinist. The concert was held in Grozny, the Chechen capital. The event took place on October 5 for the 35th birthday celebration of Ramzan Kadyrov, Chechen leader.
The human rights group urged celebrities to avoid as much as possible interacting with people like Kadyrov, who has been accused of human rights violation as well as abduction, enforcement of violent undertakings and authored extra-judicial killings in the Russian republic of Chechnya. Kadyrov has been linked to a number of human rights abuse, Huge Williamson said. Williamson, director of the group for Europe and Central Asia, also added that it is painful and excruciating to know that celebrities are being paid by Kadyrov when countless of individuals are suffering and were victims of human rights violation and abuses.
