Channing Tatum To Play Gambit In X-Men Spinoff
Channing Tatum is apparently going to play X-Men member Gambit in a spinoff that will focus on the character’s life and background. The actor had previously expressed interest in playing the role of Gambit whose real name is Remy LaBeau.
Gambit is a Cajun charmer born in Louisiana, who has the ability to control kinetic energy and often uses it to charge certain objects like playing cards. The character was created by Chris Claremont and Jim Lee and first appeared in the X-Men comic books in 1990.
The X-Men spinoff is just a notch in the long list of projects Tatum is involved in. Tatum is also preparing to star opposite Jonah Hill in “22 Jump Street,” a sequel to the successful “21 Jump Street” which also starred the two.
He is also starring opposite Mila Kunis in the science fiction drama “Jupiter Ascending” that is set to premiere this summer.
Claremont, Gambit’s creator also wrote the storyline featured in “X-men: Future Past” that was directed by Brain Singer and is due to premiere on the 23rd of May. The movie has both actors that starred in the 2011 sequel as well as the original trilogy that is said to have started the entire comic book cinema craze.
