Charlie Sheen admonished by Canadian health officials: do not smoke
Charlie Sheen has been warned by health authorities in Canada about smoking onstage when he visits Toronto on the next leg of his "My Violent Torpedo of Truth" tour.
"I would encourage him, given that he is a smoker, to call our hotline and to try and quit smoking for his own health," Ontario Health Promotion Minister Margaret Best said.
Best added that health inspectors will be monitoring Charlie Sheen if he tries to light up and puff on a cigarette during his time onstage.
Ontario laws prohibit smoking indoors much to the aggravation of celebrities like Sean Penn, whose hotel was fined after the actor lit up a cigarette while attending the Toronto International Film Festival a few years back.
Sheen's show debuted on April 2 in Detroit to dismal reviews. Since then, reception has improved a little with the introduction of a question and answer format.
Canadian comedian Russell Peters will be joining Charlie Sheen for the two-night show at Massey Hall.
Charlie Sheen, the star of Hollywood films "Platoon" and "Wall Street", has been the subject of intense media attention for his outrageous and bizarre behavior that included stints in rehab and hard partying with adult film performers. He also is finalizing his divorce with Brooke Mueller Sheen.
His antics have led "Two and a Half Men" producer Warner Bros. Television to fire him from his top-rated show. The actor subsequently filed a $100 million lawsuit against Warner Bros.
Charlie Sheen then embarked on his "Torpedo of Truth" show featuring him talking onstage using weird words like "Rock Star From Mars" and "Adonis DNA" to explain himself and discuss random things.
