Chicago Bulls Prepare For Upcoming Absence Of Derrick Rose

Chicago Bulls Coach Tom Thibodeau said that Derrick Rose is set to undergo surgery to restore a medial meniscus tear along his right knee. Dr. Brian Cole will perform the procedure on the point guard of the Chicago Bulls.

It remains uncertain when the NBA star will be back in action. If the meniscus will be removed, Rose will be back in action after a few weeks. However, if the meniscus is reattached, he will have to rest for at least four months. Although the first procedure is faster, it may result to additional issues in the future. The Bulls may opt for the second procedure since it has invested millions in the future of the player.

Although Thibodeau expects Derrick Rose to fully recover, a cloud of disappointment is hanging over the locker room. Rose is both a great player and teammate. However, everyone understands what needs to be done. The coach added that they cannot feel sorry for themselves, and the team needs to simply go out and do their job.

He indicated that getting injured is part of the NBA. The coach is confident with the players on the bench of the team. The players are already preparing for the absence of Rose.

Thibodeau believes Derrick Rose will recover from the latest setback in his career. The coach said the mental toughness of the player will serve him well. Rose has dealt with adversity in the past and his mental toughness allowed him to deal with it.

The coach said that Kirk Hinrich will replace Derrick Rose in the starting lineup. Marquis Teague will play back-up to Hinrich. The other players of the Chicago Bulls are already preparing for the long absence of Rose. Carlos Boozer said the team feels bad for him and everyone is hoping that he will recover from the injury soon.

The sadness in the team was evident with their loss to the LA Clippers last Sunday. Forward Taj Gibson said that it will be necessary for the team to continue playing its game. The team should also allow Rose to concentrate on his recovery. He added that the team has gone through a similar situation in the past when Derrick Rose was unavailable to play for the team.
