China’s best bet for Winter Games kicked out of the National Team
Beijing, China - Wang Meng, considered as China's most successful Winter Olympic Games athlete, has been thrown out of the Chinese National Team due to unexpected clash with an official after getting drunk one night several days ago. Wang Meng has been China's best bet for the short track speed skating event in the upcoming Winter Olympic Games.
Wang went out a night to drink but failed to return before the hotel's curfew. Wang was confronted by her team manager resulting for her to punch her female manager. The expulsion of Wang Meng has been released by China's governing body in sports Thursday after the decision was carefully discussed and already finalized. Wang Meng, 26, was prohibited from competing in various international competitions for her grave misconduct which violated the team's image.
Wang Meng won 3 gold medals at last year’s Vancouver Winter Olympic Games. The highly competitive Chinese athlete also won 3 medals in the 2006 Turin Winter Games: 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze. Another Chinese athlete was also expelled from the national team after he assaulted another Chinese sports official and caused damages to hotel properties. However, 4 other athletes were lucky enough to have been allowed to stay in the national team, namely Han Jialiang, Liang Wenhao, Zhou Yang and Liu Qiuhong.
