China A Step Closer to Very Own Space Station
Beijing — China, the Asian superpower nation, has moved one step closer to becoming the 3rd country in the world to have its own space station as it has successfully docked 2 spacecraft above the earth early Thursday. Shenzhou 8, an unmanned spacecraft, has docked successfully with Tiangong 1 and now is in orbit already. The attempt has been in line with the nation’s ambitious space project as of the moment. The unmanned spacecraft was launched from its western China base last Tuesday. China has joined the United States and Russia as the only nations in the world to have mastered the technique of space docking.
After failing multiple times in its attempt to join and be recognized in the 16-nation Int’l Space Station, China has launched its own program. The repeated and multiple failed attempts by China had been caused by strong objection from the United States which feared that the Chinese space program will be used by China for its selfish military enhancement activities.
The launch of Tiangong 1 placed China in the same situation when the United States was starting in the 1960s with the Gemini program in terms of technology. But many experts disagreed and said China is progressing more as compared to what the United Stated did before.
