Chinese Olympic Badminton Team Shows Dominance

Badminton - Lin Dan, Olympic champion from China, won Friday the men’s singles game in the semi-finals of the highly coveted China Masters as China, host nation, is on track of sweeping all the titles in the tournament. China has shown its supremacy in badminton with the country’s stellar performance in the ongoing China Masters.

Lin Dan, the top seed, out-smashed Japanese Sho Sasaki in two straight sets with the scores of 21-15, 21-6 while another Chinese player, Chen Jin, knocked off Hans-Kristian Vittinghus of Denmark two straight sets 21-16, 21-19. The third Chinese player in the semi-finals is Chen Long who defeated South Korean Lee Hyun-Il 21-10, 21-12. China is already secured with atleast one player in the finals as Lin Dan will face his compatriot, Chen Jin, in the first semi-final duel this Saturday. Lin Dan recently won his 4th world championship singles title just a month ago in London.

The second semi-final match will feature the last standing non-Chinese player still in title contention. Peter Hoeg Gade of Denmark will fight Chen Long to keep his dream of winning the coveted title on Chinese soil. Gade wants to keep his momentum going as he defeated Du Penyyu of China 17-21, 21-14, 21-16 in a hardly fought quarter-finals game.

In the women’s distaff, all the semi-finals berths are occupied by 4 Chinese players making their presence felt in the whole competition. The women’s title is already assured for host country, China. Wang Shixian, top seed, toppled Juliane Schenk of Germany 21-16, 21-17 while another Chinese player, second seed Wang Yihan trounced Saina Nehwal of India 21-18, 21-12. Wang Xin garnered the 3rd Chinese semi-final slot defeating Danish Tine Baun 21-16, 21-13 while Jiang Yanjiao completed the Chinese domination by knocking off his compatriot Liu Xin 21-12, 21-13. Wang Shixian will face Jiang Yanjiao while Wang Yihan will face Wang Xin.
