Chris Brown’s Seizure Is Not Rare, According To Doctors

Doctors revealed that the seizure experienced by Chris Brown was not rare and will not result to any long-term issues. According to his publicist, Nicole Perna, the singer experienced a non-epileptic seizure as he worked in his studio in Los Angeles.

Although the Chris Brown was examined by a doctor, he was not hospitalized. Magdy Selim of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center revealed that around six to eight percent of seizures are caused by sleep deprivation and extreme stress. Selim, who did not treat the star, said that anyone can suffer from a seizure if they undergo sleep deprivation and extreme stress.

Selim added that there are other reasons for seizures, including alcohol and drugs. Selim also said that long-term health problems can result from repeated seizures. According to Beth Israel Deaconess' Comprehensive Epilepsy Center‘s Bernard Chang, electrical over-activity in the brain can cause epileptic seizures. Non-epileptic seizures may be caused by emotional problems and stress. It may also signify some type of psychological response to difficult situations.

Chang indicated that symptoms can vary. The mildest seizures can result to short periods of unexpected sensations while the person is awake. On the other hand, complex seizures can result to changes in behavior and awareness issues. Serious epileptic seizures can result to uncontrolled movements in the body and loss of consciousness.

Chang added that it people may get injured due to mild seizures if they hit their heads during the attack.

According to Perna, baseless legal issues and nonstop pessimism may have exacerbated the illness of Chris Brown. The star is currently under felony probation following his 2009 case with his former girlfriend, Rihanna.

The probation was revoked by a judge last month, and a hearing was ordered for a hit-and-run case last May 21. A fight between Chris Brown and Frank Ocean was also investigated by authorities last February.
