Chris Perez Out For Undetermined Time Due To Shoulder Injury

Indian’s Chris Perez suffered a right shoulder injury and will miss the World Baseball Classic.

Even worse, as the state of his recovery is not yet well formed he might also miss Opening Day.

Cleveland Indians representatives said this Friday that closer, Chris Perez had sustained a subscapularis strain and that he will be out of play for at least ten days.

Recovery will be pretty lengthy and the two time All Star can be ready to play only in three to four weeks.

The last time Perez appeared this spring was on Tuesday in a match against the Royals. He was scheduled to play this Friday but was scratched off the starter list after the unexpected injury.

He was also going to join Team USA this Sunday to play in the World Baseball Classic, an event he declared he was expecting with great enthusiasm. Sadly he won’t get to play while Vinnie Pestano, a candidate to replace Perez if his injury last longer than expected is going to play in his place for Team USA.

If Chris Perez's recovery goes as scheduled and no complications arise he should return in about three weeks, giving him a week to regain form before the April 2nd Opening Day game against the Blue Jay’s.
