Chromecast Support Comes To OneDrive For Android App

Android and Chrome users can look forward to a new feature added by Microsoft into its OneDrive for Android app, the ability to cast images and videos into a Chromecast device. The software giant announced the addition recently, which will benefit Office 365 users with unlimited OneDrive storage.

Chromecast support is another incentive for users who may want to upload images and videos from the application into the online storage system of Microsoft rather than Google Photos. Users can also easily access their pictures whenever they want to show them off. Since these users have unlimited storage, they will not worry about running out of space. They can also try to use both applications in uploading their photos.

The fact that Microsoft has started to embrace the numerous features of different ecosystems was encouraging for industry watchers. The features of Chromecast will follow any changes on the OneDrive for Android app. Last May, the software giant launched basic support for Android Wear devices, and the watch face is now capable of displaying some photos on OneDrive from the past thirty days.

Microsoft also added more features on its app, including the capability of opening links as well as streaming videos. For the moment, Chromecast support has been limited to an Android-only feature, while the iOS version does not offer the same feature. Even the home platform of Microsoft, Windows Phone, does not offer Chromecast support for the moment.

Once all the issues in the OneDrive for Android app are resolved, the company is expected to release an iOS and Windows Phone version. An update for Windows 10 for mobile is also expected to be released before the end of the year.
