Clarke’s All Night Party After British Open Triumph

Clarke’s All Night Party After British Open Triumph

Darren Clarke, the 42-year-old professional golfer from North Ireland has promised himself that he would party hard when he wins the British Open, and he proved everyone that he is a man of his words by doing so.

In an interview with the journalists the morning after his triumph, Clarke told the journalists that he had spent the whole night partying and had not been able to get any sleep at all.

The Northern Irishman also admitted that he was just looking at his trophy the whole night and still cannot believe that it is finally his, while clutching the famous Auld Claret jug. He said, "I probably won't get any sleep until tomorrow at some stage. Have to enjoy it when you can. I had quite a few pints and quite a few glasses of red wine and it all continued until about 30 minutes ago. It's been a very good night."

However, when the journalists asked if he tried to fill the Claret jug with liquor he just said, "I'm a little bit of a traditionalist. I feel a bit funny about putting stuff in the Claret Jug that shouldn't be in there.”

When asked about his family, he revealed that he was very happy that he finally had the opportunity to talk to his sons namely, Tyrone and Conor.

Clarke is aiming to be in the running for the Ryder Cup captaincy and he was hoping that last Sunday’s win will help him achieve this.

Clarke meanwhile said he hoped Sunday's win would elevate him into the running for the Ryder Cup captaincy at some point in the next few years. He mentioned that, "Unfortunately these points don't qualify for the team next year, but in saying that, I am a major champion, so Jose Maria will be paying attention, as he always does, so we'll see where that brings me.”

Although the win won’t count for the next year’s captaincy, he’s happy that at least this captured the attention of Captain Jose Maria Olazabal.
