Clint Eastwood’s “American Sniper” Praised By Critics
Clint Eastwood’s latest movie “American Sniper” starring actor Bradley Cooper of “Hangover” fame really won over critics with an intense, exciting, grungy and highly personal portrayal of sniper Chris Kyle.
The movie seems to kick off with a highly intense scene and doesn’t get any calmer as it progresses. It immediately puts viewers in a moral dilemma as well as beautifully and poignantly portraying the tough decisions servicemen had to take in split seconds and the implications of their decisions.
The scene immediately captivates audiences and sets the tone for this dense, insightful and adrenaline packed movie which shows again Clint Eastwood masterfully honed craft at producing compelling characters and drama.
The unconventional, modern warfare setting only deepens the sense of danger and mental exhaustion as well as the importance of each decision the characters have to make. However intense the action gets, the well-crafted characters are relatable and completely engageable by the audience.
And while Eastwood’s western days have long since passed he seems to draw a lot from them in this compelling movie. “American Sniper” is no mere action movie and while there are plenty of explosions and battle scenes, it also looks at the mental state of the characters that have to take these almost impossible decisions regardless of the sometimes violent repercussions.
