Conrad Bain, “Diff’rent Strokes” Actor Dies At 89

Conrad Bain, the “Diff’rent Strokes” actor that played the father figure has died this Monday at his home in Livermore California, at the age of 89.

His death makes Todd Bridges the last surviving cast member of the “Diff’rent Strokes” family, with Dana Plato, who interpreted Bain’s daughter Kimberly dying from a drug overdose in 1999, and Gary Coleman who played Arnold Jackson on the popular sitcom dying in 2010 after falling down some stairs at his home.

Bridges told news reporters "I am deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Conrad as we were looking forward to celebrating his 90th birthday next month … In addition to being a positive and supportive father figure both on and off-screen, Conrad was well-loved and made going to work each day enjoyable for all of us. He will be missed, but never forgotten."

Conrad Bain’s daughter, Jennifer also told reporters that “He was an amazing person. He was a lot like Mr. Drummond, but much more interesting in real life. He was an amazing father.”Conrad Bain’s rise to stardom started with an audition for the role in the 1971 movie “Cold Turkey”.

Although he didn't get the part he was remembered by Normal Lear, the director, and was cast in “Maude”. Conrad Bain is survived by three children Jennifer, Kent and Mark.
