Cory Monteith Optimistic Before His Shocking Death

Following his successful completion of a rehab program, Cory Monteith appeared to have put behind his substance abuse issues in the past.

He thanked his fans through a tweet that he sent to fans last April after he went through a month-long rehab program. His pictures showed him smiling while on a vacation with his longtime girlfriend and costar on “Glee”, Lea Michele. Michele announced that she supported her costar throughout the struggles that he faced in the past.

Cory Monteith was set on returning to “Glee” where he is considered as a heartthrob to the fans of the show.

However, his recent death shocked fans and costars in the show. His body was found inside a Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel room after he did not check out.

No signs of foul play were discovered by police although an autopsy was planned to be made on Monday to find out the cause of death. Cory Monteith checked into the downtown Vancouver hotel on July 6, and hotel records revealed that he was alone when he died.

A statement was released by representatives of Michele following the reports on the death of her boyfriend. It remains uncertain how the death will affect the series. Executives of the network did not release any statements in connection to the death of the actor.

Since he entered rehab, Cory Monteith did not appear in the last few episodes of the show last spring. He was one of the popular characters of the show that averaged over ten million weekly viewers in its second season. He was among the main attractions of the show even as its viewership dipped to 8.7 million in it last season.

His problem with substance abuse plagued him ever since he was a youngster in Victoria, Canada. However, he was able to turn his life around when he stayed with a friend of the family in Nanaimo, Canada. He started to take acting classes and was able to get small parts on “Final Destination” and “Smallville.”

His biggest break was on “Glee” where he became one of the most endearing stars of the show. In an interview in 2009, Cory Monteith said that he wants to continue acting and his hard work may eventually pay off in the future.
