Curiosity’s Landing a “Miracle of Engineering”
Curiosity’s flawless landing was regarded as “miracle of engineering” of NASA scientists. On Monday, they take a look at the images of an ancient crater in Mars that is believed to give clues whether life happened in the planet.
Mars rover Curiosity landing was a relief to the scientist and engineers. They were looking forward to have NASA’s first astrobiology mission ever since 1970s Vikings probes.
According to Miguel San Martin, lead engineer of Curiosity, scientist and engineers have trained themselves for eight years to expect the worst always.
When the news confirmed that the first mobile science landed without any problems on Mars, Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s mission control engineers erupted in cheers.
This event does not only contribute to history but also has led to opening of new period in planetary exploration.
Aside from the NASA scientist and engineers that are very proud of Curiosity, President Barack Obama has sent his congratulations and regarded the accomplishment as “point of national pride.”
The landing is just the start of a huge two-year project that costs $2.5 billion that focuses mainly on geology and chemistry. The public’s imagination was captures by the daring nature of getting Curiosity to Mars.
