Dennis Farina Dies At The Age Of 69
One of the most memorable actors to hail from Chicago, Dennis Farina was a remarkable artist with a trademark east coast accent and a classic mustache.
The star of shows like NBC’s Law & Order died this Monday at the age of 69 at a hospital in Scottsdale Arizona because of an unexpected blood clot formed in the actors lung.
He was famous for playing parts that land on both sides of the law, being equally memorable as a gangster like in 1988’s “Midnight Run” or as a cop in “Crime Story” or “Law and Order”.
Farina who was a Chicago police officer before becoming an actor experienced a fantastic rise in popularity in the 90’s playing in both comedic parts like 1995’s “Get Shorty” or in 1997’s “That Old Feeling” and in more serious drama’s like the hugely popular “Saving Private Ryan”.
Through his career, Farina worked with some of the biggest directors in Hollywood, like Steven Spielberg, Steven Soderbergh, and Barry Sonnenfeld to name a few.
Farina joined the “Law and Order” cast in 2004, as detective Joe Fontana, a character that was based on the actors real life experience as a Chicago police officer.
Dennis Farina, who was most recently seen in an episode of “New Girl”, is survived by his wife and three children from a previous marriage.
