Derek Jeter To Return after Ankle Injury

The Yankees superstar Derek Jeter has an almost spotless record when it comes to Opening Days, missing just one since 1996.

He seems to want to keep that record intact and is working hard on his recovery. Jeter who had his ankle accident in October has taken his protective weight-bearing boot off and is training and working out regularly at the Yankees training facility in Tampa.

This is the first time Derek Jeter has been able to work on his form since the operation two months ago.

From the time Derek Jeter suffered the ankle fracture in a game during the American League Championship Series back in October, he announced he would make his return by April 1st.

The April 1st opener is pretty special as the Yankees face their rivals, The Boston Red Sox.

For the time being, Jeter will be doing light workouts and recovery exercises like walking on an underwater treadmill. He is expected to resume regular training and runs by the end of the month.

Derek Jeter isn't the only big name from the Yankees that is trying to recover from an injury as CC Sabathia, Mariano Rivera, and Alex Rodriguez are also out for a good period of time.
