Dog Presented As Lion In Chinese Zoo
In an embarrassing episode for the Henan province zoo staff the animal presented as an African lion started barking at the visitors setting off a series of complaints from tourists who felt cheated but also from people concerned about the dog’s wellbeing.
The lion was replaced with a Tibetan mastiff that was owned by one of the workers of the zoo. Visitors of the Louhe city Zoo had a big surprise when the prized lion started barking at them. Zoo officials said that the lion was replaced with a dog while it was taken to a breeding center.
The Tibetan mastiff is a dog similar to a small lion with an imposing stance and a similar hairdo. According to local media the first person to discover the sham was a mother who took her child to the zoo so that he can learn the different sounds animals make.
At that point, zoo keepers came clean and confessed to the women that the lion is in fact a brown coated Tibetan mastiff. The woman was less than understanding and said that she felt cheated.
The incident wasn’t contained to the lion cage as other animals we’re mislabeled and a dog was being passed off as a wolf.
