“Duck Dynasty” Makes Waves On Reality TV Scene
Although many people doubted the popularity of “Duck Dynasty” when it initially aired, it appears that the reality TV show about a family from Louisiana proved to be more popular than what people initially thought.
The show is already on its fourth season and ranks second only to “The Walking Dead” among cable television series. The show follows the life of the Robertson family and their sporting-goods business. Viewership has increased by 95 percent during the last season as it averaged around 8.4 million viewers.
The modern-day sitcom features numerous unique characters like the duck-call creator and patriarch, Phil, his wife Kay, and their sons Jep and Jase.
The oldest son of the couple will be joining the show for the premiere of its fourth season. Jase said that he is the troubled member of the family. According to Andy Dehnart of realityblurred.com , the success of “Duck Dynasty” is linked to the engaging personalities of the Robertsons.
Some fans tweeted that the show allows viewers to look at the important things in life, church, family and fun. According to Lily Neumeyer, the reality-programming chief of A&E, the best compliment that they received was when people wish their family was like the Robertsons.
For Jase, sincerity is critical since the smartest thing they did was remaining true to themselves. Although family members provided ideas for the episodes, each episode is similar to the plots of sitcoms.
Situations are also recreated by “Duck Dynasty” producers, and some parts of the series are not totally unscripted. There are also instances when family members may not go along with the plans of the producers. Neumeyer indicated that the family may not trust the producers enough to do everything they are asked to do.
Although the success of the show has also led to some imitators, it is not easy to reproduce the authenticity of the Robertsons in front of the camera.
Aside from the raise that the family received in the show, the family business also experienced more people buying duck calls even if they are not hunters. Jase indicated that the “Duck Dynasty” series changed their lives as people started to recognize them in grocery stores.
