Eddie Murphy Back For New Beverly Hills Cop Movie
Paramount Pictures announced that the long awaited sequel to the Beverly Hills Cop franchise starring Eddie Murphy will happen and that fans should expect to see it by 2016. Murphy, 53, is not the only big name that will return to the franchise with the series' original producer Jerry Bruckheimer also joining the effort.
Paramount also announced that the new movie will be directed by Brett Ratner while the script will be written by Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec of Teenage Mutant Ninja Fame. The new movie will bring back one of Eddie Murphy’s most successful and beloved characters, Axel Foley. The March 25th 2016 date has also been announced.
According to Paramount moviegoers will see detective Foley, who has been living an easy life in Beverly Hills, return to the tough, crime filled street of his home city Detroit.
The first Beverly Hills Cop movie was released in 1984 starring Eddie Murphy as Detroit based police officer Axel Foley. It was one of the most successful comedies of the decade spawning two sequels that starred Murphy as the same lovable detective.
A TV series based on the movie was due to be made that would have occasionally starred Murphy while the main protagonist would be played by Andrew T. Jackson. CBS passed on it after producing the pilot episode.
