Edward Snowden Brushes Aside Accusations Of Collaboration

During a recently-published interview, former NSA contractor Edward Snowden said it was absurd that he worked as a spy for Russia when he stole classified documents about the surveillance programs of the United States. He said he did not receive any assistance from anyone and he acted alone and unambiguously.

He said the accusations were false and will not stick. He added that politicians underestimated the intelligence of Americans.

On the other hand, Michigan Representative Mike Rogers believes that Snowden received help from someone to steal the documents. However, the House Intelligence Committee chairman did not offer any evidence that shows the former NSA contractor worked with Russian intelligence. He refused to believe that it was coincidental that Snowden found a safe haven in Russia.

The Counterintelligence Center of the CIA is currently investigating whether Snowden receive assistance from someone else or not. For the moment, the FBI and CIA have not discovered any evidence showing Snowden receiving assistance from a foreign country in obtaining the documents.

But, Senator Dianne Feinstein did not discount the possibility that someone helped the former NSA contractor.

Edward Snowden said he was wondering why the claims of the congressman were reported by media outlets since it was mainly baseless speculation.

He added that he did not intend to stay in Russia since he attempted to go to Cuba following the cancellation of his passport by the US State Department. Snowden added that the United States did not show that US national security was damaged by his revelations.

The former NSA contactor is expected to provide additional answers during an upcoming online chat. He will also respond to the speech of President Barack Obama on the reforms at the National Security Agency. The Courage Foundation will sponsor the online chat with Edward Snowden.
