Emily Blunt Shares Her Experiences On “The Devil Wears Prada”
When Emily Blunt played the role of Emily Charlton on “The Devil Wears Prada,” she said she enjoyed the role of the sarcastic, fashionista Runway assistant who was also one of the highlights in the movie. She said she “had so much fun with that part,” which she considered mind-blowing. She made the revelation in an interview on EW Radio of Sirus XM.
The role required her to bully the newest employee of Runway magazine, Andy Sachs, who was played by Anne Hathaway. However, Blunt said it was not easy for her to boss Hathaway around.
She said it was not easy to be mean to Hathaway while they were filming the movie due to the doe eyes of Hathaway. Andy and Emily were the assistants of Miranda Priestley, the editor of Runway magazine on the movie. Meryl Streep played the role of Priestley, who was feared by the members of her staff.
Emily Blunt indicated that she was fascinated with the way the Oscar winner played her role. She said that Streep went through everything during their first table read. Blunt, revealed that Streep did not have to raise her voice, which was “frightening” for her. She said she liked it so much that it became one of her favorites among everything Streep has done.
The interview of Emily Blunt on the Jess Cagle Show is set to premiere soon and will be available through siriusxm.com/ondemand.
