Emmanuel Sanders Signs Offer Sheet With The New England Patriots
The former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders signed an offer sheet with the New England Patriots.
Jordan Woy, his agent said that the signature guaranteed him a one year with $2.5 million contract.
The Steelers have recently tried to work their way under the salary cap and now have to come with a counter offer for Sanders or risk losing him to the Patriots.
The Steelers offered Sanders a one year salary of $1.323 million, with $1.9 million in salary cap room says an NFL Players Association calculation.
The above mentioned numbers include the Steelers’ tender to Sanders which in turn means that they can match the Patriots’ contract sheet. However, they also have to allow room for the draft picks which means that a number of contracts will have to be renegotiated if Sanders is to stay in Pittsburgh.
Sanders’ last season was a prolific one with career highs stats like 44 receptions and 626 yards. His value to the team is even greater after last month the Steelers lost Mike Wallace to the Miami Dolphins.
In the meantime, the New England Patriots are busy with more than Emmanuel Sanders and have signed Danny Amendola and Donald Jones, both as free agents in an effort to refresh their wide receiver age group.
