Eva Longoria, Desperate Housewives star, divorce confirmed
Eva Longoria has filed papers to divorce NBA basketball player Tony Parker, her husband of nearly four years. Court documents revealed the reason as “irreconcilable differences.” It was not stated when the couple had separated.
When asked by reporters after a game by his team the San Antonio Spurs, Parker did not specify the reason for the split which has been rumored recently.
“It’s a difficult time right now for me and Eva,” he said. “We got a joint statement and everything else is our private life.” Someone asked if there is any truth to reports of infidelity on his part, supposedly involving a teammate’s wife, and Parker only responded, “That’s my private life.”
The star of “Desperate Housewives” tied the knot with the Frenchman on July 6, 2007 in Paris in civil ceremonies. They were wedded in a church adjacent to the Louvre Museum the day after and held an exclusive reception at a French chateau.
Longoria, who was married once before, was often seen courtside when Parker and the Spurs played. The couple does not have any kids. They both posted a joint message in their Twitter pages about the split which said: “We love each other deeply and pray for each other’s happiness.”
The 35-year old Longoria has asked the court to revert her name back to Eva Jacqueline Longoria. The divorce papers also said that Parker and Longoria had a prenuptial agreement. The television actress is also requesting that each party seek and pay for their own counsel during the proceedings, and that she be given spousal support by the NBA star.
