Family Guy Creator Seth MacFarlane Sued For Stealing Ted
Funny man Seth MacFarlane, best known for creating, directing and starring in Family Guy is being sued by a production company that is based in California for supposedly stealing the idea behind the 2012 hit movie “Ted” which MacFarlane wrote and directed.
The production company filed a complaint this Tuesday in a District Court in Los Angeles. The company is named Bengal Mangle Productions LLC and they claim that Ted bears an uncanny resemblance to their own creation the teddy bear Charlie.
The Bengal Mangle teddy bear was apparently created in 2008, 4 years before Ted, as a screenplay for the “Acting School Academy.” They also say that Charlie has appeared on websites like YouTube or FunnyorDie before Ted was even in production.
They claim that MacFarlane’s Ted bares a clear physical resemblance to their creation as well as having the same personality and verbal mannerisms. He also has the same type of human friends as well as the same type of habits as he likes to spend time in the living room while smoking cigarettes and drinking beer.
MacFarlane, his agent or representatives for Comcast Corp’s Universal Studios, the company that released the movies could not yet be reached. The 2012 movie was a huge hit grossing around $550 million worldwide, making it the most successful R rated comedy of all time.
