Final Potter Film creates a new box office record
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2 created a new box office record beating the previous opening weekend record of the Batman film “The Dark Knight” of $158-million in 2008.
The final movie of the Harry Potter franchise has earned a whopping $168 million from the fans and moviegoers on its opening weekend having a $10 million advantage. The ending of the beloved series written by J. K. Rowling, about the adventures of a young wizard to beat the evil Lord Voldemort, which showcases friendship, loyalty, courage and love is surely a cathartic one. The fans admitted to having mixed emotions regarding the series’ finale.
Surely, Hogwarts’ School of Witchcraft and Wizardry will be missed by the muggle-borns who were able to follow the story. In an effort of some to show their love for the film, some of them came dressed as their favorite Potter character.
The 24-year-old Los Angeles resident, Celeste Perez told Los Angeles Times, “This is the end of my childhood. It’s like, 'Now what's left for me? What can I cherish as much?'”
Although Harry Potter’s story has come to an end, this will not be the same for Hogwarts, Rowling has divulged information that she’s going to open a website starting in October to feature new materials about Potter’s world, now that’s great news!
