First Tri-Band Smartphones For Sprint Spark Coming On November 8

The first tri-band smartphones using the LTE Sprint Spark network will be sold by Sprint starting November 8. These handsets include the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini, Samsung Galaxy Mega, and LG G2. The smartphones will also feature HD voice capabilities.

The new devices are expected to take advantage of the overhauled wireless broadband network of the mobile service provider. The company also revealed its roll-out plans of Sprint Spark across the United States in the next two years. The wireless broadband speed on the 4G LTE network of the company will also be double before the end of next year.

Sprint Spark is already available in Chicago, Tampa, Miami, Los Angeles, and New York. The company indicated that the network is expected to be expanded to a number of markets next year while numerous major cities will be covered in the next three years.

The three tri-band smartphones are expected to reach Sprint stores by next week. Sprint revealed that the Samsung smartphones will receive an update to give them tri-band capabilities after they will be launched. On the other hand, the update for the LG G2 will be released near the start of next year.

The Samsung Galaxy Mega features a 6.3-inch touch screen display and comes with a hybrid design that facilitates going from conference calls to video calls. The device has a price tag of around $200 with the typical 24-month contract.

The LG G2 is the first smartphone offered in the US market featuring the Snapdragon 800 chip of Qualcomm. It has a price tag of around $200 with a two-year contract from Sprint. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini will feature a dual-core 1.7GHz processor and is priced at around $100 with the two year Sprint contract.

The release of these tri-band smartphones from Sprint will be followed by other Sprint Spark-ready devices in the future.
