Former Prime Minister Thatcher Undergoes Surgery

It appears that the former prime minister of the UK, Margaret Thatcher, is already recovering from a surgery that removed growth in her bladder.

The first woman who was elected as the leader of the country earlier complained of pain in the area of near the bladder. She was taken to a hospital where a minimally invasive surgery was conducted, according to Tim Bell, a PR executive who had served under Thatcher.

Bell added that the surgery went well, and the former prime minister is already recovering. She will go home after she has fully recovered from the operation.

Thatcher welcomed free market policies during her eleven-year term. The Iron Lady, as what she was also called, confronted trade unions and privatized a number of government-owned companies, which polarized a number of voters.

She also led the country in war against Argentina in 1982 and was known to be close to the late Ronald Reagan, a former president of the United States. Her party forced her to step down from power in 1990. Thatcher reduced her public appearances due to a number of mild strokes that she suffered in 2001 and 2002.

Margaret Thatcher also underwent testing for an illness linked to flu in 2010.
