French President Brushes Cheating Accusations Aside
French president Francois Hollande disregarded accusation that he had an affair with a popular French actress, however, he did disclose that he and his wife are going through a rough patch.
Hollande, the socialist president of France who has suffered a huge drop in popularity after being unable to clearly map out a plan to revive the stagnant French economy didn't address the allegations during a 30 minute speech he gave this Tuesday. His partner, Valerie Trierweiler, has been admitted to a hospital after suffering a shock after seeing pictures that supposedly show Hollande wearing a motorcycle helmet while visiting his mistress appeared in the magazine Closer.
When asked about the pictures, the French president responded that every couple can face trials but that he values discretion and believes that private issues should be treated privately. He assured press representatives that he would resolve the issue before a visit to the United States scheduled for the 9th of February, a visit that Ms Trierweiler was supposed to be attending.
Hollande also said that he will not sue Closer, the magazine that published the revealing pictures, because as president he is immune of being sued and would not want to create a precedent.
The French president didn't let the issue consume his entire press conference nor did he give out any more details regarding the matter, regardless of how much the French press insisted.
