Gas leak Cause Explosion, Children Burned

In Western Ohio last Saturday, six people including three children were airlifted to hospitals after a house suddenly exploded. Victims suffered from serious burns and injuries due to the explosion.

According to an official, Fairborn Fire Marshal Carl Day, a gas line was accidentally hit and ruptured while work was being done on the house’s water line and caused the explosion. Cybil Poole, one of the neighbors told Dayton Daily that she witnessed the traumatic explosion which occurred 100 meters away from her house and saw an infant burned, bloodied and covered in glass. According to Poole, it was a horrible scene wherein you can see huge fireball and people come out on fire. Paula Corelli, also a neighbor told the Dayton Daily that she was almost hit by piece of wood from the sudden explosion. Corelli also added that two adults carried 3 children covered in blood.

The identities of the three children and a teenager were not revealed and were taken to Dayton Children’s Medical Center. The infant is under critical condition while the others were treated and released, according to spokesman Terry Fink.

The gas leak has been turned off after the fire was put out, according to Carl Day. Neighbors who had been temporarily evacuated were allowed to go back to their residences.
