Georges St-Pierre Hints At Taking A Break From The UFC
During a post-fight press conference, Georges St-Pierre revealed that he wants to stay away from the sport for some time due to some personal things that he needed to handle. He revealed that he gets emotional after a fight, and he is dealing with a lot of stress. However, he said that he cannot talk about it.
Last week, the UFC welterweight champion said that he obsesses on his opponents and he loses sleep thinking of how to beat them. When he was asked what he was talking about, UFC President Dana White stopped him from answering the question.
After St-Pierre left the room, White said the UFC fighter was obsessed with something else.
White indicated he had no idea on the statement of St-Pierre. He added that the fighter did not say that he will retire, and only wants some time off. However, he owes it to the fans, the belt, the company, and Johny Hendricks for a rematch.
White added that Georges St-Pierre can retire since he has a lot of money. He cannot go on a hiatus since it does not work this way. The UFC president added that he will talk with the UFC fighter after he was asked how he will handle a hiatus by St-Pierre.
Dana White stopped St-Pierre from answering a question asking what he would tell the UFC about his belt if he takes a break. However, the UFC fighter indicated that he came out as the victor in the fight. He said that it was the call of the judges.
At the start, St-Pierre did not want to explain why he needed a break. He said he just came from a fight with someone who punches like a truck. He said he wants to take some time off after feeling that his brain was bashed inside his skull. He added that he gave everything in his tenth straight successful title defense.
Georges St-Pierre also said that he will leave his soul in the octagon if he will leave the sport following his fight with Hendricks.
