Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry Named MVP
Sources within the league revealed that Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors is the 2014-2015 Most Valuable Player. The official recognition of the star player is set to be held before his team’s the second game of the Western Conference semifinals against Memphis.
Aside from Curry, James Harden of the Houston Rockets was in the running for the coveted award of the NBA. The two players were among the front-runners in the field that included Russell Westbrook of Oklahoma City, Anthony Davis of New Orleans, Chris Paul of the LA Clippers and Lebron James of Cleveland. Kevin Duran of Oklahoma City won the award during the 2013-2014 season. However, injuries caused him to miss most of the games of his team.
Curry said he did not have any idea that he won the MVP trophy after the game of the Golden State Warriors against the Grizzlies. He added that since it was in the middle of the playoffs, it is not easy to things about things that are uncertain. He said that he is aware of the situation and is aiming to maintain his focus in the game.
Curry further said that he will be happy if he gets a call about it and a good number of people will be proud of his achievement. However, he added that he is currently happy with his team’s win in the first game of the Western Conference semifinals.
Curry played a major role in the 67 wins of the Warriors, and surpassed his record for three-pointers in a single season. He is set to become the first MVP of the team since 1960 when Wilt Chamberlain won the trophy for the Warriors when it was still based in Philadelphia.
Stephen Curry hit 286 three-point shoots this season, which broke the record he set two years ago. He currently holds three of the five three-point records in the history of the NBA. For this season, he shot 44.3 percent from behind the three point line for the Golden State Warriors.
