Google Celebrates International Women’s Day With Google Doodle

International Women’s Day was celebrated by Google with a Doodle that shared the dreams of girls and women. On Tuesday, after users clicked on the Google Doodle, the “International Women’s Day Doodle 2016: #OneDayIWill” YouTube video will be launched. The video shows over 330 girls and women across thirteen countries asking them to finish a simple sentence, “One day I will…”

A blog post by Google indicated that every city offered more “One day I will” answers, more dance moves, more high fives and more hugs. The post added that the number of aspirations was as numerous as the number of girls and women who shared them. Some were personal while others were global in nature. After the video was finished, the company discovered that their own “One day I will” became richer and bigger with the women they met serving as its inspiration.

The International Women’s Day served as the inspiration for the Doodle of Google. The United Nations supports the day to commemorate the achievements of women. The day also highlights admiration and respect for women as well as promotes women’s rights across the world. The event was started in March 8, 1977 when member states of the UN was asked by the UN General Assembly to decide on an international day dedicated to the rights and freedom of women.

Major days are celebrated by Google through doodles. Doodles were created by the company for holidays, important individuals and causes. The recent doodle covers all these points. Prominent individuals were asked to join the video, including Jane Goodall, Malala Yousafzai and Muzoon Almellehan.

The famous environmentalist Goodall is hoping to have the chance to discuss the environment with the pope while Yousafzai, a Nobel Prize winner, and Almellehan, an activist, are hoping that all girls around the world will get a chance to go to school. Google is now asking women to share their respective dreams. A hashtag was created by the company for International Women’s Day and women are posting their respective dreams using the hashtag #OneDayIWill.
