Google Nexus 6 Launched Together With Nexus 9 And Nexus Player
Google unveiled the Google Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and Nexus player recently together with the latest version of the Android mobile OS, which is also known as Lollipop.
Potential buyers can preorder the Nexus 9 and nexus Player by October 17 before it hits the market by November 3. On the other hand, the Nexus 6 can be preordered by October 29 before it becomes available by November. An unlocked 32GB version of the latest smartphone offering of the Internet giant costs $549 while the unlocked 64GB version has a price tag of $699.
The Nexus range of devices is an attempt of Google in providing a pure Android experience to users. The launch of the latest Nexus devices came before Apple introduced its latest iPad models. Although the iPad remains the leader in the tablet market, its share has gone down from 40 percent to 32 percent as Samsung gained ground after it increased its share from 17.5 percent to 22 percent.
The release of the latest Nexus devices comes as Google provided guidelines to manufacturers on the components they can use for Android-powered devices. The guidelines were established after the launch of the Android One initiative in India.
The latest Nexus smartphone was manufactured by Motorola, which is the third pure Android device it produced since the Motorola Droid and Motorola Xoom. Following the acquisition of Motorola by Google, the company was taken out of the running for producing Android devices. However, Motorola has another chance in producing more Android devices following the announcement that the company may be acquired by Lenovo. The deal between Google and Lenovo is expected to be finalized by the end of 2014.
The Google Nexus 6 features a curved aluminum body, 13MP camera, Quad HD display screen and front-facing dual speakers.
