Green Bay Packers Replace Wallace With Scott Tolzien
For the third time in as many weeks, the Green Bay Packers are using a different quarterback with the elevation of Scott Tolzien in its game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Tolzien was given the role by Coach Mike McCarthy following the injury incurred by Seneca Wallace in the first possession of the team in the game. Tolzien was in the training camp of the San Francisco 49ers over the summer before he became a part of the practice squad of the Packers.
Although Wallace was in uniform, he did not rejoin the game. Instead, he spent most of his time on the sideline. Scott Tolzien completed a total of 24 passes for 280 yards for the Green Bay Packers. He also had two interceptions and a touchdown pass.
It remains uncertain when Aaron Rodgers will return to the lineup. The collarbone of Rodgers was fractured last Monday. The team is hoping that their regular starting quarterback will return before the month ends.
McCarthy indicated that Scott Tolzien did a great job during the game. The Green Bay Packers were running plays that he did not get a chance to practice. The Packers coach added that the game management of Tolzien was remarkable. On the other hand, Tolzien said that you should be prepared to become a starter every week. He added that it is essential to make sure you are prepared when the opportunity comes so that it will come naturally for you.
It also remains uncertain if Wallace will be ready to become the backup of Tolzien in the next game of the Packers on Sunday.
Prior to the injury of Wallace, Matt Flynn was scheduled by the Packers for a workout. However, the team aims to evaluate the elbow of the passing arm of Flynn. The staff of McCarthy was optimistic with Flynn, who is knowledgeable about the offensive system of the team. Flynn was able to make six touchdowns and passed 480 yards when he started for the Green Bay Packers during the 2011-2012 regular season finale.
