Green Day Are Back !
Front man Billie Joe Armstrong shouted “Welcome back!” to a huge crowd at the SXSW music festival in Austin this Friday night.
In what was a fantastically energetic show, Green Day, especially Billy Joe returned quite triumphantly from rehab. Friday’s concert was the first after Bily’s meltdown last September during the iHeartRadio festival in Las Vegas. He soon after had himself enter rehab and it seems to have worked perfectly for him.
They entered the stage to Ennio Morricone’s “The Good, The Bad and the Ugly” theme and started playing a host of songs from older favorites like “Welcome to Paradise”, “Boulevard of Broken Dream” and “Jesus of Suburbia” to their newer tunes like “Stay the Night” and “Stop When the Red Lights Flash”.
They also entertained their adoring fans with covers like “Hey Jude”, “Sweet Child o’Mine” or “Highway to Hell”.
Armstrong seemed to enjoy himself as much as the fans and called the night a celebration, as he had fun shooting water, and throwing toilet paper and t-shirts into the crowd.
While Green Day aren't doing any media interviews, the peg seemed to get one clear message across, and that is Green Day is back, and they still rock !
