Gut Richie May Direct 6 King Arthur Movies
British director Guy Ritchie may undertake the single largest project of his career and just about everybody else’s. Ritchie is apparently the director that Warner Bros. chose to tell the legend of King Arthur for the big screen. The amazing thing is that the director might helm 6 movies that draw their inspiration from the classic book “Le Morte d’Arthur” written by Thomas Mallory in the 15th century.
This isn’t the first time that Ritchie and Warner Bros have been thinking about filming the epic legend with the film production company buying the rights to a script written by David Dobkin for $2 million. In the now failed project, Colin Farrell would have played Lancelot while Gary Oldman would play Merlin.
The $130 million needed budget was too high to cover and with Kit Harington and Joel Kinnaman didn't provide the star power needed to make the movie a blockbuster. Guy Ritchie also developed a version of the tale written by Trainspotting writer John Hodge so there will certainly be a lot of creative ideas the director can and will implement when the movies get the green light.
The mammoth task of directing six movies may not be placed on Guy Ritchie’s shoulders alone with the British director only being confirmed for two movies. It is sure, however, that he will stay on if the two movies make the expected profit.
