Halo 4 coming to Xbox 360 to kick off new trilogy
'Halo 4' is coming to the Xbox 360 game console, Microsoft Inc. said in an announcement at the Electronic Entertainment Expo at the University of California's Galen Center on Monday.
In addition to the highly anticipated game, Microsoft also unveiled its plans to offer live television by domestic and international broadcasters on its popular gaming platform.
The live TV service on Xbox 360 is already enjoyed by users in France, Australia and the United Kingdom. Microsoft did not release details of the new service.
'Halo 4' is the latest chapter in the hugely-successful Halo franchise that is the lynchpin of the Xbox game console. The previous game, 'Halo: Reach," sold 3.3 million copies in the first month of release in 2010 according to Microsoft.
The company said 'Halo 4' is the "dawn of a new trilogy" for the science fiction, first-person shooter game franchise.
Microsoft also said at E3 that it is upgrading its revolutionary Kinect control system to incorporate voice commands, Bing search engine queries and playing with conventional controllers.
The new features were previewed using the upcoming 'Mass Effect 3,' another successful game franchise. Also demonstrated using Kinect controls were 'Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier' and 'Forza Motorsport 4.'
These are highly-anticipated titles, but Xbox 360 fanboys are putting 'Halo 4' on top of their list. The fourth installment marks the return of main protagonist Master Chief as a playable character.
'Halo 4' is developed by 343 Industries instead of Bungie which made the previous three Halo games.
