This Friday Egypt has seen a new series of violent clashes between protesters that are unhappy with the post Hosni Mubarak leadership of their country and government forces.

The clashes took place outside the presidential palace in Cairo, and are nothing new in Egypt’s capital city as growing unrest turns to violence.

Egypt’s Prime Minister Hesham Qandil has denounced the acts of violence and has urged protesters and opposition leaders to make their points through peaceful ways.

Hesham Qandil said in his televised intervention that “All the political forces should withdraw their protesters from the areas near the presidential palace and Tahrir Square to give the police forces a chance to identify those committing vandalism acts”

Friday’s clashes started with opposition parties urging Egyptians to protest against Mohammed Morsi’s administration and new constitution, a constitution that gives more power to Morsi’s Islamist party and instates a tougher version of Sharia law.

Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi also commented on the situation and said that opposition leaders should not ask their supporters to protest through violent means and that the people protesting in front of the presidential palace should vacate the area as soon as possible.

Hesham Qandil also admitted in his speech that the government may not have done the best job of meeting all Egyptians demands but that they are working to meet all the basic needs as the country’s economic situation is not getting any better.
