Houses Destroyed In Oklahoma Wildfire
On Friday, Oklahoma City area was affected by a wildfire that caused several homes to be burned. Firefighters gave great effort to prevent the fire from affecting more parts of the city.
According to the officials of Oklahoma’s emergency management, there are 25 structures that were burned in the east of Noble. Residents were instructed by the officials to evacuate the area. 30 square miles in the south of Lake Thunderbird served as the evacuation area for the affected people.
Reports included that people in a pickup truck were seen tossing papers that were on fire. Damages or loss of livestock were not immediately reported.
The fires took a little time to spread due to high temperature, gusty winds and drought. Also, there were few crews that could fight the fire.
Smaller roads and the area being heavily wooded have contributed to the difficulty of containing the fire.
A temperature of 113 was measured near Norman at mid-afternoon of Friday. Furthermore, 14 mph to 24 mph of winds were from the southwest and south.
A helicopter was told to help the ground crews in fighting the fire. The Bureau of Indian Affairs and the National Guard also let their helicopters to be used.
