An unlocked model of the HTC One M8 is currently available through the Google Play Store at a price tag of $699. This Google Play version of the smartphone is compatible with various GSM networks like T-Mobile and AT&T. It also merges the new design of the smartphone with the Google version of the Android OS interface.

Smartphone manufacturers normally add features and graphics on the Android OS to a certain extent. However, many consumers favor using the Google version of the Android OS since it is not stuff with features they may not need. The Google version also offers faster updates. This is the type of OS offered through the Nexus phones, and other smartphones available through the Google Play Store.

Google revealed that the Google Play version of the smartphone receive the latest Android software updates automatically. They are also optimized for the most recent applications, offer more storage, and provide a cleaner and faster user experience. However, customers who want to purchase the HTC One M8 will have to wait around three weeks before the device is delivered to them.

The smartphone normally features the HTC Sense interface of the Taiwan-based company.

The smartphone features a five-inch screen display with a 1920 by 1080 resolution, quad-core 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 processor from Qualcomm, 2GB RAM, metal uni-body case, microSD memory card slot, and a choice of 16GB or 32GB internal storage.

Although the two-lens camera of the HTC One M8 has a low resolution, it provides a depth-related effect to users that de-saturates or blurs the background. These features are available of the smartphone offered through Google Play.

Google revealed that the ultra-pixel camera of the smartphone is designed for bigger pixels to allow it to capture added light while the depth sensor measures the distance between objects automatically. The company revealed that the subject can be highlighted and the background blurred using the camera of the smartphone. The focus can also be modified and it offers a 3D effect on the images captured on the HTC One M8.
