The previous version of the headset cannot be folded, which makes it hard to store.

This makes it easier to charge the headset compared to the micro USB connection of the previous version.

The latest version may feature a standard speaker for audio, which replaces the Bone Conduction Transducer of the previous model. It also offers 5 GHz Wi-Fi support ad features a camera light along the glasses. The light turns on whenever the camera is used. While this feature may be disabled using a third party application, it is an affirmation to the privacy some people need whenever the headset is used for recording. The new model of the Google Glass supposedly offers better durability compared to the previous model.

Ars Technica said the latest model of the headset may be limited to the Glass for Work program of Google. The program provides business the opportunity to customize the software used on the headset. It may be possible for an external battery pack to be attached to the device to increase the time it can be used. This gives users a longer uptime with the device compared to the previous model.

It remains uncertain how the Project Aura initiative of Google fits into the development of the new model of the device. Project Aura was the team that developed the previous version of the headset. After the first model was released, the team was given the task of making Google Glass appealing to more users.
