Indiana Amusement Park Boasts Innovative New Roller Coaster
Who doesn’t love to spend at least a couple of days each summer in an amusement park? Among classic rides and other typical entertainment options that you can enjoy with anyone from your kid to your grandparents you will also get a chance to see what new rides have been developed to push your need for thrill to the maximum.
The Holiday World and Splashin’ Safari amusement park located in Indiana is doing just that and has started building a new roller coaster that is meant to shake up and entertain even connoisseurs of this entertainment form. The new roller coaster will manage to propel riders to speeds that reach 60 miles per hour in about 3.5 seconds. The ride will also contain a 14 story loop among four inversions.
The ride will be called the Thunderbird and it will be the first launched winged roller coaster in the United States. A winged roller coaster means that riders will be situated on the left and right parts (the wings) of the ride with the central part being attached to the track. This type of positioning increases the surreal effect of the roller coaster as riders will have nothing above or under them, giving a much more intense adrenaline rush.
Officials have declared that the Thunderbird is expected to cost $22 million, nearly double the cost of any other ride present in the southern Indiana amusement park today. The ride is expected to be completed in the spring of 2015.
