Injury Forces Tiger Woods To Withdraw From The Bridgestone Invitational
The withdrawal of Tiger Woods from the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational may signify the end of his 2014 season. The withdrawal was due to a lower back injury. The event was the third start of Woods since he returned from a back injury that forced him to forego the US Open and Masters.
Woods was on the ninth hole when he clutched his back following a tee shot. It appeared he had some difficulty in walking to the golf car that took him out of the course. It was the second WD of Woods for the year.
The injury reportedly started on the second hole after Woods was forced to hit his shot near the bunker before he fell. Initially the fall appeared to be harmless. However, Tiger Woods revealed after he finished the round, the pain was somewhat different and he felt it somewhere on his lower back.
Tiger Woods said that after he fell inside the bunker on the second hole, he was jarred. He added he felt spasms ever since his second shot in the second hole. The season appears to come to an end for Woods even as the PGA Championship is set to be held in the coming week.
It seems that Woods has to become healthy before he can come back to play competitive golf. A number of analysts may have questioned his return to play at the Congressional, the British Open and the Bridgestone, it may be necessary for the player to fully recuperate from his injuries before he can decide to play again.
The FedEx Cup playoffs along with the Ryder Cup may go on without the presence of Woods. This may be a big blow for the two events since Tiger Woods is still considered as one of the best players in the game.
