Iran Government Criticized Due to Slow Earthquake Response
After the earthquake that happened to Iran, the country is now facing criticisms about its response to and handling of relief goods to the public.
Ali Larijani, Iran’s top lawmaker, said that the residents of the affected areas are complaining about the inadequacy of tents for the victims. The lawmaker said that larger steps must be done by the crisis management headquarters to alleviate the concerns of the public.
On Sunday, the officials have claimed that all survivors were freed from the debris so they finished the search and rescue operations. Moreover, the officials said that residents were amazed on how fast the government has reached the most remote villages.
A doctor in the city of Tabriz have claimed that he knew the areas very well and there are parts that cannot even be reached by cars. The doctor, who did not give his name because of the issue, added that it was impossible for the search and rescue team to finish the operations that fast.
Also, the doctor said that he was on duty for 24 hours straight after the earthquake. He observed that the victims were brought to the hospital by private vehicles and ordinary people instead of the government rescue teams.
