Islamic State Members Execute Syrian Soldiers

Members of the terrorist organization ISIL or the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant have captured a group of Syrian soldiers over the weekend executing one of them. The Syrian prisoners are held at an air base in the northeastern part of Syria. Pictures of the gruesome execution were posted online this Wednesday.

The Islamic State began as an al-Qaida affiliate but has shortly become one of the most dangerous terrorist organizations in the world, particularly due to their sadistic executions and ruthlessly imposed sharia law. The terrorist group managed to take over Tabqa airbase after several days of fighting with the Syrian army soldiers stationed there. According to the London based Syrian Observatory for Human rights the fighting cost more than 500 lives on both sides.

The Tabqa airbase was one of the last Syrian army positions in what is now a militant controlled region. ISIL now controls huge portions of Syria and neighboring Iraq. U.S. military forces have been bombarding the group’s positions in Iraq but have yet to attack them on Syrian territory.

Some pictures that were leaked online showed several militants gunning down what appeared to be 7 or 8 kneeling men. Other photos and videos showed up to two dozen seriously injured Syrian army hostages surrounded by Islamic State members. The airbase, its defenses and its personnel appeared on Syrian state television just before it was overrun by ISIL.
