Israel To Provide South Korea Ammunition Support
Seoul — An Israeli company was chosen by South Korea to provide the country advanced rockets in order to protect the country from future North Korean attacks. The $43 million deal was announced Tuesday by an unnamed South Korean official in an attempt of the country to level-up its military defense with its neighboring North Korea incase a huge debacle between the two Koreas might heighten.
67 Spike NLOS rockets will be deployed by South Korea in the two islands of Yeonpyeong and Baengnyeong, both in the Yellow Sea, before this year ends, as confirmed by a government official from the arms procurement. It can be remembered that 4 South Korean Nationals were innocently killed November of last year in Yeonpyeong when North Korea initiated a surprise attack.
The deal was signed in July after military officials from South Korea gave the best performance review to Israeli weapons and warfare. The unidentified South Korean official confirmed the deal. Rafael Advanced Defense Systems of Israel said their rockets can soar up to 25 kilometers or 15 miles and could even hit hidden targets.
It was a struggle for South Korea how to find ways to challenge North Korea with its hidden coastal artillery once a surprise attack might be initiated again. The bold move by South Korea was a response to criticisms received by its defense officials. Since last year, they had been receiving criticisms about their lack of initiative to respond quickly to any attack from the North.
